We would like to contribute to the smooth transition of your financial planning from being single to being married. Therefore we offer a few hints for the newly-weds:
- Both parties have to chance their Wills. Whether you are married in community or out of community of property or with an anti-nuptial contract, you can still decide to have two separate wills or not. In short: amend your will.
- Correct the your address on your insurance policies.
- If both parties had Short Term Insurances, combine the two policies. Normally the total premium will decrease.
- Change the beneficiary on your Life Assurance Policies. (We strongly advise that you check who you have as beneficiaries on your policies)
- Ladies: Chance your surname and address on all your policies and at the bank. Apply for new ID book and driver’s licence (and passport).
- Gentleman: Notify your Medical Aid of the your new spouse.
